11 Basic Steps to Host an Event

Hello there super handsome and gorgeous ladies!

I am done with my practical training, therefore I have more time to bond with my dearest blog (I hope). There are still tones of other things waiting for me at school though. Pleaseeee pray for me! My thesis......urgh.... just pray for me.

During my internship program, I have the opportunity to be involved in a number of events. One of the million things I learnt is How to Host Events. Well, I don't exactly stand on stage and MCied the event but I was behind the curtains, making sure the event goes as planned.

Being with Mypartners Communication Sdn Bhd, I was given the knowledge to conduct events. I am happy to announce that I am sharing it with you *wink!

Read, Learn, Apply- Good Luck!

1. PARTY TROOP- Find your best team that can work with you for the event. Make a check list on who is in charge of what. You cant do everything yourself can you? Afraid that you might oversee some details. Gather a Party Troop to help.

2. UNDERSTAND YOUR EVENT- is it for birthday bash? is it a launch party? is it dinner? casual or formal?

3. EVENT CONCEPT- After understanding the purpose of event, figure out the concept which is most suitable for the event. One thing to bear in mind, plan accordingly and make sure things that you planned are POSSIBLE to be executed. For example, "I want to have a jet that writes my name in the sky, and David Beckham to bring my birthday cake"- Seriously?? I know his dreamy, but keep it realistic, shall we. And gather ideas on the activities during your event.

4. VENUE & MENU- Clear enough, after knowing your event concept, deal with these two chipmunks and plan out right. Financial terms are important at this point.

5. TARGET AUDIENCE- Carefully select and invite people to your event. Make a list and ask friends to help you do that. Back at the office, we call it RSVP list.

6. INVITATION- Cards? Emails? Post Laju? Posters? Fax? Pigeons perhaps?? figure out the media for your invitations. And do not do it at the last minute. What's a party without guests rite? and also remember to include the details of event- Venue, date, time etc.

7. RSVP- List down the people who respond to your invitation. Mark on names on whether they are coming or not.

8. CHECK CHECK CHECK- Check list is DAMN important. Make sure things are in order at least a few days before the event.Check the venue, the menu, and if you happen to have activities along the way, make sure things or tools needed are at the right place. If you have an MC to host the event, Scripts must be ready waayy before the final day. Get prepared with backup plans!

9. EXECUTE PLAN- Now that you have everything in place, run the show!

10. BE ALERT & QUICK- No time for day dreaming. Everyone must be at a standby mode during the event. If anything goes wrong, quickly think and act.

11. POSTMORTEM- This is a post-event thing. It is best to look back on your performance so that things can be better next time around. Be open with the team and exchange ideas or thoughts on the event that you did and find ways of improvements. And dont forget to thank your team. Saying "well done, Good Job" is no harm. ;)

There you go! Congratulations, you are now capable of hosting an event.
Hehe.

Why are you still reading?? Go plan your party!

Putting Pets to Permanent Sleep

These are my kittens Kopi and Mickey :)

Mickey died of bad flu and cough. We belief that she got it from her mother, Suki, who had a fever for one week straight. We went to the pet clinic a day before Mickey passed away and the vet told us that she's already weak.

"Do whatever you can to save her, please", I begged.
"There's not much we can do, she's very very weak", the vet replied.
"Can you feed her with the pills, and have a close watch on her for the next couple of days until she's fine again?"
"I would suggest you bring her home, we cant do much but only to provide the pills"

When the vet asked us to bring her back home, we already know in our hearts that we are going to lose Mickey. Referring to the topic, I would like to share with you some of the information i found on Euthanasia.

Euthanasia means the last resort of putting one to death as to end one's unbearable pain. Vets prefer to use the term "put animal to sleep". When an animal is having a serious illness like cancer or tumor and it is not curable, the vets will suggest to end the animal's pain by 'putting it to sleep'.

There are two types of Euthanasia:

Active Euthanasia:
Injecting a liquid to stop the heart of one, or to give overdose medicine in which also cause death

Passive Euthanasia:
To stop giving any more medical help.

As what happened to my kitten, i would say it is under Passive Euthanasia. It happens a lot to humans to. I remembered when my late grandmother was sent home, the doctor told my father to spend quality time with her as any minute could be her last.

Islam benarkan ke benda nie??
As summary for hukum Islam:

Active Euthanasia is haram as we should not put an end to anyone's life.
While, Passive Euthanasia is conditional. It counts the practicality and also the doctor's knowledge towards what's best for the patient. Doctors have a huge responsibility as we can see here, they can be either a hero for saving a life or a murderer for taking one's life.

Mahmud Si Pemotong Rumput

Among all topics, I chose Mr. Mahmud as my 'featured celebrity' for this post.

Allow me to introduce Mr Mahmud, he is our favourite Pemotong Rumput who comes every month to cut the grass since 2009. He is damn good at his job that his name rhymes with what he does best.

Mahmud, Rumput
Rumput, Mahmud
hehe :)

He's from Pakistan, aged 50++
and his looks are similar to a character named COUNT OLAF in Unfortunate Events

Say hello to my readers , Mr. Mahmud. hehe

Mr. Mahmud inspired me in several ways. I'm sharing with you one of the best things that i learnt from him. Not Teknik Pemotongan Rumput, but something more valuable.

When my father first hire him, he was on his old bike, carrying his old machine potong rumput, dirty clothes, and a pair of almost grey black boots. He hardly speaks Malay properly back then (end of 2009). He kept saying his name, n the service he offers, something like this:

Abah: Boleh tolong potong rumput ka?
Mahmud: *pointing to himself* Mahmud, Rumput.

Abah: Celah pokok pun mau kasi potong baik2 ok?
Mahmud: *smiling* Mahmud, rumput.

Abah: Mahu makan?
Mahmud: Mahmud, Rumput. (ok, i made that up. hehe)

Every month he'll come, and my father fell more deeply in love with his work. He is the SIFUof potong rumput! He worked hard, he used to do rounds at my housing area once in every two days just to grab any opportunity of doing lawns.

Abah said, "he's smart and hardworking, one day Allah will pay him big"

One fine day, (middle of 2010), he bought himself a new motorcycle. A few months later, he has a helper who works for him. He divide his work with his helper and gain better profit. He managed to cover a larger number of houses since he has the helper with him.

This Year, HE BOUGHT A CAR and has more helpers with him. The last couple of weeks, Abah called Mr. Mahmud for his monthly routine. He came with his car, along with three men wearing blue uniforms. He didnt carry any machines with him on that day, instead, he stood at the side, in his neat white office shirt, and a pair of nice shoes, observing his STAFFS. Yes, he has Staffs in uniforms!!

Abah: Wah, Mahmud nampak lain lah. Sudah jadi boss. *teasing him*
Mahmud: *smiled* Syukur Alhamdulilah. Rezki.

He has come a very long way since the day we first met him. He knows he is good at what he does, he focused on that n expand. His hard work, skills and patience inspired me. I hope he inspires u too.

Shout out to Mr. Mahmud: Semoga Allah pjg kan umur & murah kan rezki!!

Stressful Stress

Heloopp Tomatoes.

It has been so long since i last wrote. Sorry :(

Before i write any further, here are some recaps of what I've been up to this recent weeks of my absence from Blogging. (not that u care but wth)

1. I'm doing my practical training in Subang Jaya, at a company called Mypartners Sdn Bhd. Basically i do PR and some Event marketing. It is AWESOME. Fabulous colleagues.

2. Lost my laptop to robbers. Almost half of my Photo collection is lost. My mistake of not doing back-ups.

3. I'm on my Final Year Project. All the research and stuffs. FUN.

4. Spend time with my kitten- Kopi (stop jumping on my keyboard, plz)

5. Part time nurse for my dad who recently hospitalized for High Blood Pressure. (Damn you kari kambing!)

Honestly, I have no witty things in mind to share. But i feel like writing before the spiders come in and start to have webs in here.

Anyway, i want to write something personal. (jeng jeng jeng)
No lah, actually I just want to talk about STRESS.

One of my tasks as an intern is to monitor newspaper for current events and business opportunities, therefore, every morning, I get to read English n Malay papers. I can say that most of the things that I found in the newspapers these days are Murder cases, Suicide, Child & animal Abuse, and ofcoz, Malaysian favourite- Divorced celebrities (Pfft).

I guess the only common reason that could caused such things is a monster called STRESS. Demanding career and lifestyle can give huge unbearable impact on one's mind and body which in the end contributes to negative actions- like suicide, or killing an innocent child, or slamming a brown poodle that cant stand on his hind legs (WTF).

There are two kinds of Stress, which are-
Bad stress and Good Stress.

Good Stress: it is a motivating factor. Stress is the initiative
that allows us to accomplish tasks, set goals, and create projects.

Bad Stress: it is actually called distress because it connotes a strain,
or too much demand on the body or mind. This distress can be caused
by, or exasperated in, times of loss, transition, and change.

If I may suggest, if you feel like you are experiencing chronic stress (which means, an extreme pressure or a pressure that you cannot handle), do talk to someone (as a first helpful step). It's important for you to let it out. Or if you don't feel like sharing it with anyone, just write it down somewhere. Expressing your thoughts is a healthy thing to do. As for the Muslims, we can always 'talk' to Him :)

To my fellow young readers, we are the next in line of becoming parents, bosses, politicians and celebrities. (some of us are already a boss, a parent, a politician and superstars). Therefore, do avoid unthoughtful actions that could damage ourselves or the people around us. One of the ways to do that is by controlling our stress. Set a realistic goals in our lives and strive to achieve it, do not put too much pressure on our mind and body as it is the greatest gift that God has ever given.

Btw, here's a new guy on Youtube. He's awesome. Have fun watching his videos. Reduce your bad stress by watching him.
Shout out to Anwar Hadi: Wohoo! keep it up!

Bling for Ring

Helloop! Happy Saturday to my semut2 kesayangan!

Today i feel like talking about marriage.
A lot of people at my age have common concern on these things:

a) Studies
b) Career
c) Boyfriend (s) or Girlfriend (s)
d) Image building
e) Marriage

The list is not based on priorities because different people have different priorities.
For this post, i'm going to put focus on MARRIAGE.

When i ask people about their marriage plans, money is always the issue.
Let us see what the CASH is really for.

Flirting
At the filrting stage, money is needed for these things:
Eating out, movies, car gas, presents, SMSs, Calls (especially when having a fight. hehe). They are not free you know.

Pre- Marriage.
The engagement ring, the dulang hantaran, and also some preparation for after marriage like a car and house. My guy has a huge concern on this area.
He said "We must put effort on money savings before getting married, not just for the majlis, but also for the crucial things we need after we are married. i obviously want you to have a good life and not to regret marrying me. Marriage is damn important, its not just about akad nikah. Important things actually come after Majlis kahwin".

Any how the burden shouldnt be only on guys just bcoz they are the hubbies. Common girls, help your man!

Kenduri Kahwin.
I dont blame anyone for having wild imaginations and fantasies for their wedding ceremony. Ofcourse we want the best for our important day but what we actually need to consider is the money in our pockets. Bank loans for one-day wedding? You gotta be kidding me. Belum apa2 dah ada hutang.

Be humble people. We dont need extra grand wedding just to impress the guests or our in-laws. Just imagine, after spending one whole lot of money for the Majlis, later at night, both of you in bed, instead of having fun, you are thinking of the ways to pay the debts. My guy once said "Dont be too busy decorating the door and forget the interior of the house". Deep :)

BABIES.
I didnt realize that babies can take up so much money. I dont have babies around me, not even among my cousins. So basically i dont have a clue about newborns and its need for cash. One day while having dinner, my dearest talked about this and it really opens up my eyes.

He said "When you are pregnant, there will be some spending on good food, for the baby's growth. And also money for check ups. Later when you are giving birth, there will be spending on hospitalization. Takkan you x nak hospital yg selesa kan?. After giving birth, you'll need money for post check ups, and ofcoz some good food for your baby. Good milk costs a lot these days. Pampers dia lagi. Dont get me started with education..."

In conclusion, we have to think ahead. Falling and being in love is a beautiful thing. Its fun and exciting. But most people tend to forget about the less fun side of love, which is RESPONSIBILITY.
Start saving money for a better future for your family. (mcm iklan bank pulak hehe)

To Mr. boyfie:
Thank you so much for all the serious talk we had, I'm a better person bcoz of u.

Kids Eating Cute Chicky

Hello babies.

I've been thinking about chicken this morning (like every other morning, hehe).
I discovered that most restaurants that are serving chickens as their main course use logos with cute chicken in it. For example, chubby chicken with a happy face.

How can they have cute chickens as mascots while they are actually chopping them and serving them in plates?

Lets take KFC as example, they have Chicky as their mascot with the purpose of tackling the young customers. Kids love Chicky. Especially when Chicky performs cute dance and do other cute stuffs.

What if they found out that they are actually eating Chicky?
Chicky Meal is actually serving Chicky as a meal. Chicky on a plate. No more dancing. Its chopped and served. :'(

They should consider to copy A&W for a change. Using cuddly bear as mascot and its just as mascot and not actually a walking meal.

Its just a thought. huhu.

Well kids, guess what, YOU ATE CHICKY!!
(i can give details on how they cook Chicky.. call me *wink*)

Selamat Hari Raya AidilAdha to everyone!

Speeding and Loud Music are Relatives.

Hye everyone..
Happy Deepavali to all Kajols and Malhotras

JONET
is my car. He's a black kembara.
The name was given by my wife, kupai back in my TESL years.
Anyway, this post is not about Jonet, just wana reintroduce him to my readers.
Hehe.

I love driving fast. Truly.
If only i have a fancy car with better engine (no offence Jonet, i love u still), i would be racing everyday, even if i'm just going to 7-eleven for a botlle of pepsi.

There are many factors that could trigger a driver to drive fast on the highway.
As for me, Music is a huge factor.
Other reasons could be-
1. Toilet emergency
2. Stupid fool who's driving too close to my bumper
3. Stupid fool who blinks the lights all the time as if he cant slow down
4. Sleepy and cant wait to reach home
5. Late for class (when im in my nerd mode, or else i just take my time)
6. Damn hungry
7. Jusco sale... perhaps.. hihi

Normal drivers love to listen to some music while driving. Especially when driving alone.
A research says that loud music can get your heart to pump actively. It gets u excited. U will feel a rush of blood going tru ur vains like a speed boat (dramatic, i know). Loud Music can trigger most drivers (with normal hearts' response) to drive faster.

Jadi, pasang lah lagu kuat2 dan menari lah!!.... errrr.. no no, i didnt mean that.. i take those back.. lets move on--

I watched a documentary once, it said something about the american soldiers in Iraq. While they are in action, loud music will be turned on. The music is put in their helmets' speaker (or something). It said that it motivates them to shoot and be more agressive during the attacks.

Interesting kan? (for me it is)

Why dont u do some experiment on this. Later when ur driving, u try to listen to David guetta's music and see how u drive. and then, u listen to some nasyid. Compare ur driving styles.

I wont say that slow songs are good for driving either, because it can get ur mind elsewhere and berangan mengikut irama. Bahaya ok.

Anyhow, I wish a safe journey to all road users, driving fast is one thing, driving safe is another.. so--

SPEED SAFELY PEEPS!
(cek road tax, tarikh lesen, minyak hitam, lampu kreta sbelum mula memandu ok)
